Where will this course lead?
This course is for those students wanting to progress into aerospace technology management or gain professional recognition, by progressing to Incorporated Engineer Status. Students must have the ability to self-motivate and a willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
What will I study?
To gain the Edexcel BTEC Level 5 HND in Aeronautical Engineering qualification you must achieve a minimum of 240 credits of which 65 are mandatory core units which include. Analytical Methods for Engineers, Engineering Science, Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation and Aircraft System Principles and Applications. The remaining credits are achieved through the completion of specialist optional units which include, Aircraft Structural integrity, Aircraft Propulsion Technology, Aircraft Gas Turbine Science, Materials engineering and Further Analytical Methods for Engineers. Each unit is broken down into three or four independent modules which are assessed by assignment.
How will this course be delivered?
The course is delivered through various assignments that cover 240 credits over 2 years these will taught through practical demonstrations, workshops and lectures
What qualifications will I get?
BTEC HND Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
All modules are assessed by assignments; each unit's assessment is matched to the content of the unit. Each unit can be assessed at Pass, Merit or Distinction levels, which are combined at the end of the qualification to give an overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction for the qualification.
How do I get a place on the course?
To start the application process you will need to register with UCAS via the UCAS website (www.ucas.co.uk) and you will need to use the following UCAS codes on your application: Institution code: S26 and Course code:004H. Places are offered by interview and upon meeting the entry requirments.
What are the entry requirements?
A BTEC National Qualification or at least one A Level in an appropriate subject or An NVQ Level 3 qualification.
Mature students, who do not meet these academic qualifications, will have relevant work or life experience taken into consideration.
All students need to be able to demonstrate competency in English and Maths, possess suitable references and have a successful College interview.

What can I do after this course?
It is possible to gain entrance to the second year, of a three year degree. Professional incorporation by the completion of bridging studies and a professional interview is also possible.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
We have a wide selection of library books and electronic books for you to use for this course. There is no set text. You will be expected to supply your own stationery such as folders, paper and pens. Connection to the internet is expected, but facilities are available at College to do this if necessary.
