Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for you if you are:
- a practising team leader or first line manager who wishes the knowledge, skills and confidence to perform effectively as a workplace coach as part of their normal work role.
What will I study?
You will study three units covering:
- understanding good practice in workplace coaching
- organising workplace coaching
- undertaking supervised coaching in the workplace
How will this course be delivered?
Sessions contain a combination of individual and group work. This includes discussion, case studies, presentations, debates, research, workshops and individual and group tutorials
What qualifications will I get?
Certificate in Workplace Coaching and Mentoring (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
To pass this qualification you will be expected to:
- attend regularly
- complete a work-based assignment (to show how you would plan workplace coaching and assess your communication skills to perform effectively as a workplace coach)
- undertake a minimum of six hours workplace coaching
- maintain a coaching diary to reflect on your performance
How do I get a place on the course?
Places are offered by interview only
What are the entry requirements?
You would normally:
- be a practising team leader or first line manager
- have successfully completed team leader or first line manager qualifications
- possess communication skills equivalent to Key Skill Level 2
If you have a Learning Difficulty or Disability please let us know when you apply. You will be offered support at your interview.
What else do I need to know?
You are required to attend college for two-and-a-half hours a week for ten weeks.

What can I do after this course?
Students who are successful on this course can progress to:
- the ILM Level 3 Certificate for Professional Workplace Coaches
- the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring in Management
- the ILM Level 5 Diploma for Professional Coaches and Mentors

There are no additional costs, unless you wish to buy a textbook
