Where will this course lead?

This course is ideal for you if you are:

- a practising middle manager who wishes the knowledge, skills and confidence to perform effectively as a coach or mentor as part of their normal work role

What will I study?

You will study three units covering:

- understanding how management coaching and mentoring can benefit individuals and organisations
- reviewing own ability as a management coach or mentor
- undertaking management coaching or mentoring in the workplace

How will this course be delivered?

Sessions contain a combination of individual and group work. This includes discussion, case studies, presentations, debates, research, workshops and individual and group tutorials.

What qualifications will I get?

Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring in Management (QCF)

How will I be assessed?

To pass this qualification you will be expected to:

- attend regularly
- complete a work-based assignment (a proposal for a management coaching or mentoring programme with an explanation of how you would ensure best practice in your coaching and mentoring approach
- undertake a minimum of twelve hours coaching or mentoring
- maintain a coaching and mentoring diary to reflect on your performance

How do I get a place on the course?

Places are offered by interview only

What are the entry requirements?

You would normally:

- be a practising first line manager or middle manager
- have successfully completed first line manager or middle manager qualifications
- possess communication skills equivalent to Key Skill Level 3

If you have a Learning Difficulty or Disability please let us know when you apply. You will be offered support at your interview.

What else do I need to know?

You are required to attend college for three hours a week for fourteen weeks.

Students who are successful on this course can progress to:

- the ILM Level 5 Diploma for Professional Management Coaches and Mentors
- the ILM Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching and Leadership Mentoring
- the ILM Level 7 Diploma for Professional Executive Coaches and Leadership Mentors
