Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for you if you are:
- currently in a senior management position but need a qualification that will reflect your level of expertise
- aspiring to a senior management role in the near future
What will I study?
You will study eleven units covering:
developing the executive manager
making informed decisions
leadership and the reflective manager
personal development and reflective learning
leading change
reviewing corporate policy and strategy
building commitment to corporate vision and values
finance
promoting excellence and commitment to customer satisfaction
managing knowledge
strategic management of human resources
How will this course be delivered?
Sessions contain a combination of individual and group work. This includes discussions, case studies, presentations, debates, research, workshops and tutorials.
What qualifications will I get?
Diploma in Strategic Leadership and Executive Management (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
To pass this qualification you will be expected to attend regularly and pass eleven written assignments.
How do I get a place on the course?
Places are offered by interviews only
What are the entry requirements?
Whilst there are no formal entry requirements you should be able to:
benefit from the programme (i.e. it should be part of a planned approach to your managerial development)
be able to complete the assignments (this would assume advanced skills in written communication and mathematics and the ability to access appropriate information at an appropriate level within your organisation)

What else do I need to know?
You are required to attend college for six hours a week for thirty weeks.
Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
What can I do after this course?
Students who are successful on this course can be considered for progress onto:
MSc in Management (through a partnership with Portsmouth University); other masters level qualifications
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
There are no additional costs, apart from text book(s). The purchase of a recommended generalist management book would be considered to be a minimum requirement.
