From the very first day you take your place at Solihull College we will support you in every way that we can.
Student Finance
Did you know that by coming to college you can earn up to £30 pounds per week, depending on how much your parents earn. To apply for education maintenance allowance (EMA) you will need to contact student finance on 0121 678 7000
Learning Centres
The learning centres are here for all students who want to improve their communication or numeracy skills. You may need to develop your spelling, punctuation, get help with structuring essays or need extra support with fractions and percentages. Whatever your requirements, our friendly tutors in the learning centre are here to help.
The Learning Centres can be contacted on 0121 678 7239 (Blossomfield) or 0121 678 7381 (Woodlands).
Additional Support
Our dedicated additional support team are fully trained to give you all the support that you need with your learning. It is very helpful to us if, when you apply to the College, you indicate these needs by ticking the appropriate box on the application form.
We are also able to offer confidential advice and help for students with dyslexia.

Personal Tutors
As soon as you arrive here on your very first day at college you be assigned a Personal Tutor. Your Personal Tutor will be there to provide you, support, advice, guidance and information through out your time here. You will meet regularly with your tutor for individual tutorials to discuss your learning and ensure you are on track. You will also have group tutorials with your friends.
Childcare Funding
Don't let the worry of funding childcare come between you and your career ambitions.
Financial support with nursery fees may be available, depending on your individual circumstances.

Careers
Help with planning for the future is available to all students. To make sure you choose the career that's right for you, our Careers Team provide invaluable advice on job hunting, local employers, Higher Education, local training schemes and job vacancies. They can also help you to prepare your CV and find you suitable work experience.
The Careers Centre is open at:
Blossomfield Campus- 9am-5pm Monday – Thursday and 9am – 4pm on Friday.
Woodlands Campus - 1pm-5pm - Tuesday and Thursday

Connexions
The Connexions Service works closely with the Careers Centre to provide impartial and confidential advice, guidance and information on training, education, employment and social or personal issues for students aged 13-19.
Students can see Connexions Personal Advisors for one-to-one interviews in our Careers Centre at specified times throughout the week.

Counselling Team and College nurse
Our qualified Counselling Team provides students with an opportunity to talk things over in confidence with someone trained to listen. If you have any personal worries or problems, the team is on site every day. The College also employs a dedicated nurse, who is available at certain times throughout the year, for any health issues you may require advice on.
Confidential appointments for both the counsellor and nurse can be booked through the main student reception at the Blossomfield Campus or through your Personal Tutor. Alternatively, you can telephone the Counselling Team on 0121 678 7219.
