Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for you if you are:
- currently in a middle management position but need a qualification that will reflect your level of expertise.
- aspiring to a middle management role in the near future
What will I study?
You will study eight units covering:
The management role and skills.
The reflective manager, managing improvement and making a financial case.
Leading innovation and change and critical thinking.
Understanding the organisational environment.
Managing projects.
Managing marketing.
Making professional presentations.
Leading teams.
How will this course be delivered?
Sessions contain a combination of individual and group work. This includes discussions, case studies, presentations, debates, research, workshops and tutorials.
What qualifications will I get?
Diploma in Management (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
To pass this qualification you will be expected to attend regularly and pass eight written assignments.
How do I get a place on the course?
Places are offered by interviews only.
What are the entry requirements?
Whilst there are no formal entry requirements you should be able to:
Benefit from the programme (i.e. it should be part of a planned approach to your managerial development).
Be able to complete the assignments (this would assume skills in written communication (to a reasonably high level) and mathematics and the ability to access appropriate information at an appropriate level within your organisation).

What else do I need to know?
You are required to attend college for six hours a week for thirty-three weeks.
Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.

Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
There are no additional costs, unless you wish to buy any text book(s). The purchase of a recommended generalist management book would be considered to be a minimum requirement.
