Where will this course lead?

This course is ideal for you if want a career as an Interior Designer ,those working in related industries ..retail, fabrics, architects, show homes and those who would like to interior design their own home.

How will this course be delivered?

The course is designed to develop individual approaches to designing schemes by discussion, assignments and self reflection. You will learn how to take a measured survey and plan the use of space. Discover how design was used in period styles and how you might be inspired to develop these influences in modern designs. The course is mostly class based but students are expected to do research outside of the class sessions.

What qualifications will I get?

Non-externally-certificated non-FE other provision, Crafts, Creative Arts and Design SSA (09.2)

How will I be assessed?

Accreditation is available and each module is assessed by the tutor and is moderated both internally and externally. This course can also be for personal development which is assessed by the tutor.
You must complete a full year (3 terms) to complete each level of accreditation.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no entry requirements for the Foundation Level:
For Intermediate Level you would be required to have Foundation Level:
For Advanced Level you would need Intermediate Level
Students must be aged 16+.

What else do I need to know?

You are expected to attend exhibitions, period style houses and museums etc.

Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.

What can I do after this course?

Once you have progressed through all 3 levels you may wish to continue to study further - Interior Design HE courses or become a self employed Interior Designer or work for an Interior Design company or gain employment in related industries such as soft furnishings, textiles and retail.

Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?

Students are responsible for providing their own materials and books.
