Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for you if you have completed a L1 Diploma in Bricklaying and want to develop your practical skills for future employment in the construction industry.
What will I study?
Up to date Health and Safety requirements essential for working on a building site.
Types of Bricklaying walls and piers
Thin Joint construction methods
Understand working drawings
Up to date cavity wall construction methods
Opportunity to develop your skills in Maths, English and IT will be available as this is an important part of the course.
How will this course be delivered?
Half of this course involves practical brickwork assignments in the workshop and developing your underpinning knowledge in the in the classroom with ongoing support from your tutor.
What qualifications will I get?
Diploma in Bricklaying (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
To pass this course you will have to successfully complete all practical and theory assessments and pass a multi choice on line end test. All assessments are carried out by qualified assessors to the awarding body requirements.
How do I get a place on the course?
Apply on line at www.solihull.ac.uk or at Student Services either at the Blossomfield Road or Woodlands Campus.
If successful, places are offered after interview and an assessment of your maths & english which is carried out at the Construction Centre at Griffin Park.

What can I do after this course?
If you successfully pass this course you can apply to progress on to the NVQ 2 or an apprenticeship in Brickwork.
Learners who have a proven high standard of attendance and have demonstrated a positive attitude can be recommended for any available apprenticeships.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
You will be required to provide safety boots and appropriate clothes to wear in the workshop.
