Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal if you are working towards a career in the barbering sector. It enables you to both work in the barbering industry running a column or progress onto higher levels of the barbering, such as level 3.

Health and safety
Client consultation
Styling and finishing
Cutting techniques
Creating patterns
Shaping facial hair
Scalp Massage
Level 2 Retail qualification
Level 2 Indian Head Massage
Maths and English will be an important part of your course. You will continue to develop these skills and may work towards a qualification at an appropriate level.
How will this course be delivered?
The practical parts of this course will be delivered in the college commercial salons and the other half of the programme involves assignments, external test and portfolio building.
What qualifications will I get?
NVQ Diploma in Barbering (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is by practical observations, course work, assignments and external tests.
How do I get a place on the course?
Places are offered by interview and a screening test.
What are the entry requirements?
Satisfactory reference
Successful interview
2 GCSE at E grade one in English language
Mature students - satisfactory initial assessment

Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
What can I do after this course?
Learners will be qualified to enter industry as a developing barber. Most learners do choose to progress onto level 3 in barbering.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
Dependent upon student skills and ability you may be required to purchase additional training blocks to complete extra training.
We do offer trips and other enrichment activities which you will be informed about by your personal tutor
