Where will this course lead?
Our Apprenticeship Programme enables you to develop your skills and gain a level 3 qualification, whilst working and earning at the same time.
If you are working with children in a variety of different early years services, for example day care, nursery, childminder, crche. This apprenticeship will give you the qualifications to work within an early learning/childcare setting, caring for young children, working on your own and/or supervising others.
What will I study?
You will study all aspects of children's care learning and development
Promote communication in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
Engage in personal development in health, social care or children's and
young people's settings
Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
Understand child and young person development
Promote child and young person development
Understand how to safeguard the well being of children and young people
Support children and young people's health and safety
Develop positive relationships with children, young people and others involved in their care
Working together for the benefit of children and young people
Understand how to support positive outcomes for children and young people
Key Skills Level 1 in Communication, Numeracy and IT and a mandatory part of the apprenticeship framework
How will this course be delivered?
This course is employment based with college attendance. You will be in college for 1 session per week and work for a minimum of 16 hours per week.
What qualifications will I get?
Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
Work based assessments and classroom based study.
Assessment is via assignments and course work.
How do I get a place on the course?
Places are offered by interview, your employment status, good reference from your employer and an assessment of your English and maths skills.
What are the entry requirements?
A minimum of 16 hours paid employment in a relevant childcare and education setting working with children aged 0 -5
GCSEs at Grade C or above (English and maths) or Level 2 key skills in Communication and numeracy.

What else do I need to know?
Your employer will be asked to support your progress by participating in regular reviews, training you in the workplace and ensuring you meet the induction standards required by the Sector Skills Council - Children's Workforce Development Council.

What can I do after this course?
You may apply to progress to a Foundation Degree in Early Years Services and then to Early years Professional Status.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
You will be need to provide all basic stationery including pens, pencils, paper, plastic wallets, folders plus any additional stationery which is required for your course.
You will also need to provide costs for text books.
