Animal Care

You will be required to work for a minimum of 20 hours per week in an animal establishment: i.e. cattery, pet shop, vets or rescue centre.

The course will cover the following:
General animal husbandry, Handling and restraint, Exotics, Customer care, First aid for animals, maintaining accommodation, Cleaning and disinfecting.

At the end of your apprenticeship you will receive the following qualifications - NVQ Level 2 in Animal Care, Key skills in application of number, improving own learning, working with others and communication, (both at Level 1) and a First Aid Certificate.

Business and Administration

On this course you will learn how to organise and manage yourself, work in a variety of business situations, interact with people at all levels and produce professional business documents.

You will also learn about how a business operates and how an office runs, including customer service, reception, communication technology and rights and responsibilities at work.

At the end of your apprenticeship you will receive the following qualifications - NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration, Level 2 Key Skills in communication, Level 1 application of number and a Level 2 Certificate in Business and Administration (Organisations and People).

Professional Cookery

If you are interested in training to become a chef, this programme could be for you. We offer two different qualifications dependant on whether you wish to work in a hotel/restaurant or in a steak bar/welfare catering. You will learn how to prepare and cook a range of dishes and the principles of maintaining high food hygiene standards. You will need to have the stamina to stand for long periods of time and to work in a hot kitchen.

At the end of your apprenticeship you will receive the following qualifications - NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery, Foundation Certificate in Food Safety and Catering, Key Skills – application of number and communication (both at Level 1) and Communication Level 1

Coaching, Teaching and Instructing Football

This apprenticeship is aimed at students wishing to combine playing competitive football with a full-time education programme to enhance their coaching skills.

At the end of your apprenticeship you will receive the following qualifications – NVQ Level 2 in Coaching, Teaching and Instruction (Association Football), Level 2 1st4Sport Certificate in Industry and Organisation Awareness , Levels 1 and 2 1st4Sport FA Coaching Certificate, Level 1 application of Number and Level 1 Communication.

Contact Centres

This apprenticeship is aimed at individuals who are interested in a career in a customer service environment. You will contribute to developing and maintaining positive caller relationships, contribute to an effective and safe working environment and Contribute to improving the quality of service provision.

At the end of the apprenticeship you will receive the following qualifications - NVQ Level 2 in Contact Centre Operations, Level 1 application of number and Level 1 communication (both at Level 1).

Customer Service

This apprenticeship is aimed at individuals who are interested in a career in a customer service environment. You will be required to deliver reliable customer service, develop customer relationships and Resolve customer service problems. Assessment of the Customer Service Certificate is by exam.

At the end of the apprenticeship you will receive the following qualifications –NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service, Level 2 Customer Service Award Level 1 Application of Number and Level 1 Communication.

Children’s Care, Learning and Development

This apprenticeship is aimed at students who wish to work with children whilst gaining a qualification. The course will cover the following areas - Child development (0-16 years), health and safety in the workplace, child protection, the role of a childcare worker, meeting children’s physical care needs and the early years curriculum, and the environment.

The Apprenticeship in Children's Care, Learning and Development is offered at Blossomfield and Woodlands Campus.

Exercise and Fitness

The course is aimed at those who want to gain experience of the exercise and fitness industry whilst working towards their qualification.

You will cover core units in the following – Anatomy and physiology, promoting healthy living and health and safety. You will have the opportunity to choose additional units in either Instruction or Exercise to Music.

Food and Beverage Service

This programme is designed for anyone who wishes to work in a restaurant. You should be able to communicate well with a wide variety of people and be able to keep calm under pressure. You should have a smart appearance and good customer service skills and the stamina to stand for long periods of time.

As part of the course, you will usually spend the first four weeks full-time in College learning the basic skills needed for your work. After this you will be working in a hotel four days per week and attending College one day per week. The NVQ has three compulsory units in health and safety, customer care and working relationships together with two units in each of the four identified areas.

Hairdressing and Barbering

This course is designed for those working in a hairdressing salon, and would like to train as a junior stylist. The course will cover units in the following areas - health and safety, customer service, consultation, shampoo and conditioning, cutting, styling and dressing hair, colouring, perming and promoting products to clients.

On successful completion of the apprenticeship you will gain the following qualifications - NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing or Barbering and Key Skills in communication and application of
Number - both at Level 1

Warehousing

This course is aimed at individuals who are interested in a career in a Wholesale, Distribution, Warehousing & Storage environment.
As part of the course you will study the following: - health and safety, effective organisation, Stock storage and order processing, working effectively and customer service.

On completion of the course, you will gain an NVQ Level 2 in Distribution, Warehousing and
Storage Operations, Key Skills in application of number and communication (both at Level 1) and two of the following; IT Level 1, Problem Solving Level 1, improving own learning and performance Level 2 and working with others Level 2.

Assessment of the Key Skills is both portfolio and examination based. You will produce a range of evidence that demonstrates your ability to communicate and work with numbers. Assessment of the NVQ is again portfolio based.

Retail Skills

This course is aimed at individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in retail.

You will cover aspects of Health and safety, Stock storage and order processing, Preparing products for sale, Merchandising and selling goods, Customer services, Hygiene & goods movement and Key Skills.

On completion of the apprenticeship the following qualifications will be gained - NVQ Level 2 in Retail Operations, Retail Operations Certificate Level 2 and Key Skills in application of number and communication (both at Level 1).

Health and Social Care

This course is available to anyone under the age of 24 years old and interested in a career within the care sector.

The course will cover everything from communication and completion of records to the support, protection and well-being of others. Applicants will also develop their own knowledge and practice with in the health and social care industry.

On completion of the course you will gain the following qualifications - NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, Key Skills in communication and application of number (both Level 1) and Certificate in Health and Social Care Level 2.

We will assess you by observing you at work and by monitoring the work you have produced throughout the course. In addition, for key skills there will be end tests.

Front Office

This programme is designed for anyone who wishes to work as a hotel receptionist. You should be able to communicate well with a wide variety of people and be calm under pressure. The receptionist is the first point of contact a customer has with the hotel so you should have a smart appearance and good customer service skills. The job is interesting and varied and placements are available in high-end hotels.

As part of the course you will usually spend the first four weeks full-time in College learning the basic skills needed for your work. After this you will be working in a hotel four days per week attending College one day per week. The NVQ has 4 compulsory units in health and safety, customer care and working relationships together with specialist front office units.

On completion of the course, you will receive the following qualifications - NVQ Level 2 in Front Office, Key Skills in application of number and communication (both in Level 1), Level 2 Certificate in Customer Service and Employment rights and responsibilities.

Advanced Apprenticeship in Golf (AASE)

Our AASE for Golf is a two-year elite athlete development designed for talented young male and female golfers. Designed to help you develop your potential and achieve success in the sport, this exclusive programme requires dedicated commitment as well as skill.

Study is engineered to complement the practical aspects of the course helping you develop a level of knowledge which can access Higher Education and options for an alternative career to playing professional golf.

On completion of the apprenticeship you will gain: - NVQ3 in Achieving Excellence in Sports Performance, BTEC National Certificate in Sport (Performance and Excellence) and Key Skills Level 2 in Application of Number and Communications.

Entry to Employment

This course is aimed at people aged between 16 and 18 years old. In certain circumstances learners aged 19+ may also join the programme. The main target group will generally meet one or more of the following requirements: assistance with personal or social development, basic skills needs, work experience, help with job search techniques. All proposed trainees are assessed during the interview and induction process.

The majority of successful e2e students proceed to apprenticeships, full-time employment or further education.

On completion of the course you can expect to gain the following - Various City & Guilds qualifications in literacy and numeracy, Key Skills in problem solving and improving own learning, CLAIT certificate/diploma, Citizenship Award, health & safety and personal safety awareness.
