Solihull College provides students with an environment committed to education. We trust our students and expect them to take responsibility for reaching their chosen goals. After all, these are the personal qualities they will need in the next stages of their lives; be it in employment or at university.
We know, however, that taking the step from school to adult life is not always easy. That’s where we believe you, as parents, have a huge role to play in providing vital home support and encouragement at every stage of learning.
Your involvement in your son or daughter’s Further Education is high on our agenda, and always has been. We will keep you updated on their progress via regular parents’ evenings throughout the year where you can talk to course tutors about your son or daughter’s development.
In addition, we wouldn’t hesitate to telephone you if we felt it necessary. In return, we like to encourage you to talk to us and to raise any questions you have, at any stage – from the early stages of applying for a place at Solihull College or nearing course completion – we are happy to help.
Our students are young people who relish the grown-up atmosphere and have no problem accepting the standards of behaviour and discipline we ask of them. Further Education at Solihull College is about high quality learning. It is also about preparing school leavers for later life – helping them to grow into resourceful and confident self-starters who will flourish in whatever lies ahead.
