Where will this course lead?
The course is suitable for anyone over 18, who has already studied photography and wishes to study at a higher level and prepare for a career in photography.
What will I study?
The Higher National Diploma develops skills in:

Photographic materials, techniques and technology
How will this course be delivered?
The course is delivered through various assignments that cover 240 credits over 2 years these will taught through practical demonstrations, workshops and lectures.
What qualifications will I get?
BTEC HND Diploma in Photography (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
To pass this course your work is internally assessed at regular intervals and then externally examined and moderated.
How do I get a place on the course?
To start the application process you will need to register with UCAS via the UCAS website (www.ucas.co.uk) and you will need to use the following UCAS codes on your application: Institution code: S26 and Course code:066W.
Places are offered by interview and portfolio of work is required to join this course.
What are the entry requirements?
At least 1 of the following:
BTEC National Diploma in Photography min grade MMM or Level equivalent
A2 Photography min grade C
an appropriate Access to Art and Design programme
Foundation Diploma in Art and Design
F A strong creative portfolio of work
Mature students, who do not meet these academic qualifications, will have relevant work or life experience taken into consideration. All students need to be able to demonstrate competency in English and Maths, possess suitable references and have a successful College interview.

What else do I need to know?
A manual 35mm SLR film camera and DSLR is a requirement of the course.
Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
What can I do after this course?
This course can lead you on to careers in press photography, advertising photography, exhibition work, editorial photography and teaching with further study including a top up degree with an HEI.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
You will need to purchase all photographic materials and equipment, as well as a number of books that we will identified on the set reading list. There are a variety of compulsory visits, including overnight and day visits to London and the UK for relevant exhibitions and photographing on location.
