If you’re interested in joining the emergency or armed services, a qualification could help to fast-track you into the role you want. We’ll prepare you for recruitment or higher study in the sector, giving you the practical and academic skills you won’t get by without.

Among the academic modules you might study are law, criminology, public services skills, social sciences and citizenship, both in the lecture room and outside it, in activity and recreation centres. Your health and fitness are vital and we’ll work to build your confidence and leadership skills in team situations. Then comes project work, training sessions, essay and report writing, role play scenarios and general preparation for employment. You can also grab the chance to talk to members of the uniformed sectors and learn everything you can from their own experiences.

The Public Services Careers Events will provide you with an introduction to the courses available and a short video presentation. The event will be supported by employers such as The Royal Navy, West Midlands Police, The Armed Forces and West Midlands Fire Service. Current students will provide an insight into our Public Services courses, whilst past students will talk about their experiences, many of whom have gone onto successful careers within this field.
