Solihull College bags top national award
Solihull College becomes the first ever college to win a Best Business Award . . .
The College is celebrating after being crowned winner of the ‘Best Public Sector Communications’ category in the Best Business Awards 2009 - which aims to highlight excellence in public and private sectors across the nation.
Recognised among some of the UK’s most renowned organisations, the College has been particularly praised for its creative marketing campaigns and the way in which it connects with young people.
Over the last 18 months, due to the ongoing £31million redevelopment project which is transforming the Blossomfield campus, the College’s communication and marketing strategies have undergone major changes. The successful implementation of these led to the nomination for the award.
College Principal Brenda Sheils is delighted with the news: “As an FE College, we have a responsibility to meet the needs of an ever expanding, diverse community and the way in which we communicate with the public plays a key part in us achieving that. The redevelopment of our Blossomfield Campus makes the importance of effective communication even greater as we want to make sure that the whole community is aware of the advantages that this project will bring. To be the first college recognised in the Best Business Awards is truly rewarding.”
Commenting on the College’s success the Chair of Judges said: “Connecting with your target audience is vital when implementing a successful communication strategy. This is particularly challenging when your audience is young people but Solihull College has effectively achieved this. We were particularly impressed with the mix of creativity coupled with clarity of message.”
Other winners in this year’s campaign include Digimax™, Impact Media and HM Revenue and Customs.
