Solihull College marks milestone in multimillion pound project
Solihull College has revealed the first building to be completed as part of its ongoing £30million redevelopment scheme next week.
Doors to a brand new block, which hosts a stylish entrance and reception area, an exhibition gallery for student work, as well as a student service and enrolment area, opened today (1st September).
College Principal, Brenda Sheils, celebrated the opening by enrolling a student for the very first time in the new enrolment area. Howard Shaw aged 63 from Knowle - who will be studying a part time Foundation course in Art and Design at the College, is the first student to be enrolled by the College Principal.
The rest of the redevelopment project is set to be finished by early 2011 and when complete will provide students with high quality facilities including a new performing arts block with large theatre, new class rooms and modern workshops.
It will also provide students on specialist vocational courses, such as media, business, management, sports and animal care, with state of the art equipment and resources.
College Principal, Brenda Sheils, said: “We’re very excited about the opening of the first phase in the redevelopment of Blossomfield Campus. The new entrance and student service area are stunning and will enable us to provide first class services to new and existing students, as well as visitors to the College. Coupled with our best ever results in summer exams, this is the start of a very exciting year for the College.”
