Staff from global automotive giant, MIX Telematics, take the fast track to learning success.
A group of employees from the international company - which designs, develops and sells innovative vehicle tracking technology, have successfully completed a 12 week training programme specifically designed by the College to enhance their maths and literacy skills.
The staff, who have extremely technical roles, attended a series of weekly workshops after their manager, Glen Mortiss, approached the College in search of training to help his staff develop even further in their roles.
The group are now working towards higher-level qualifications with the College including NVQs in Performing Manufacturing Operations (PMO).
Glen Explains: “ MIX Telematics is a firm believer in its biggest asset, its staff, and this is only the start of a long term relationship with Solihull College. Although the team are qualified in their respective fields either through old style apprenticeships or college courses, we felt it was time to embark on training in the here and now and so far, we’re really pleased with the effects it’s having on the team.”
Paul Bates the College’s Business Advisor adds: “It’s great to work with an employer who wholeheartedly supports staff development. MIX Telematics is a specialist organisation whose customers have very specific needs and by equipping staff with modern qualifications such as NVQs, they are showcasing the competency and commitment of their workforce.”
