Students fly the flag for Solihull
Students help to put Solihull on the map with a brand new website . . .
A group of first year HND Graphic Design students have been busy designing a brand new website for the Solihull Tourism Forum which will promote the borough as the place to be for business and leisure.
The chair of the Solihull Tourism Forum, Andrew Cole, approached the College with a brief for the ‘Visit Solihull’ website after seeing the high quality of student work on display at the College’s 2009 end of year art show.
The project was then handed over to the group of first years who spent weeks coming up with ideas and presented their final designs to the Tourism Forum.
Out of the group, Shaun Irvine and Kat Bassitt have been chosen to take their designs forward and will now be working closely with a professional website-design agency to turn their ideas into reality.
Chair of the Solihull Tourism Forum Andrew Cole said: “The forum works to increase tourism and business in the borough and we hope that this new website will go some way to helping us achieve just that. We’ve been really impressed with the professionalism and responsiveness of the students, they’re doing an exceptional job and we’d like to say a big thank you to them all.”
The ‘Visit Solihull’ website is set to go live in April this year.
Shaun and Kat have found the project to be very rewarding: “It’s been really interesting and given us a truly professional experience which is great. We’ve been able to be as creative as we like with this project and we can’t wait to see our work come to life next month. We’re really pleased that we were asked to take part and hope the website will help to put Solihull on the map.”
