Over the last 3 weeks, a group of Horticulture students have been carrying out conservation work at Brueton park. The team have carried out an array of tasks including sycamore clearance, weeding, sowing wildflower seeds and constructing fences using coppiced hazel branches. The group also spent time honing their wilderness skills by learning how to build a fire under the guidance of experts from the Wildlife Trust. 16 year old Horticulture student Alex Woodbine said: “ I’ve really enjoyed working at the park, it’s given us all a very hands on experience. We’ve been able to develop our skills by working on real tasks and we’ve learnt new things from the Wildlife Trust too which is great.” The group’s tutor Emma Albutt adds: “I’m really pleased with what the group have achieved in three weeks. They took to the tasks really well and learned some invaluable skills. I’d like to thank Warwickshire Wildlife Trust for their involvement.” |
