Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for beginners or for those with some experience, it makes an excellent refresher. It is an ideal first step and can lead to employment as a cake decorator or become self employed offering cakes for special occasions.
What will I study?
A range of individual high impact flowers - lilies, orchids, roses etc.
A range of accompanying foliages.
Assembling flowers into sprays and garlands.
Seasonal flowers.
Using a range of pastes, colours, finishes and decorative embellishments.
Moulding and sculpting marzipans and sugar pastes.
Each term will work on seasonal flowers and plant materials:-
Autumn/Winter - acorns, berries, Christmas flowers etc
Spring - daffodils, freesias, hyacinths, Easter
Summer - Roses, orchids, lilies, bridal sprays
How will this course be delivered?
Practical class based work lead by tutor demonstration; some designs make have to be completed at home.
What qualifications will I get?
Non-externally-certificated non-FE other provision, Crafts, Creative Arts and Design SSA (09.2)
How will I be assessed?
This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the Tutor with self assessment and evaluation by the student.

What are the entry requirements?
Students must be aged 16+.

What else do I need to know?
The tutor will inform you on the first session of any tools and equipment that are required. They will also have a list of suppliers where these will be available.

What can I do after this course?
We also offer, Cake Decorating an ideal follow on course to Sugarcraft Flowers. Community also offers Floristry, Jewellery and Digital Photography courses.
Commercial accreditation is available at the College of Food in Birmingham.
