Application Form
Please ensure that all sections of the application form are completed fully in black ink.
Please do not send CV applications as these do not necessarily address the requirements of the role and therefore do not do you justice. Application forms also ensure we are as consistent as possible in our shortlisting process.
Please ensure you refer to the job details and person specification when completing the application form (where available). The requirements detailed on the person specification are of particular importance, as it is against these that we will assess the suitability of your application.
The Supporting Information section of the application form is very important as this is where you make your case for the job for which you are applying.
The College holds the Positive about Disabled People Symbol and disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria will be offered an interview. If you have specific requirements or you need additional support in order to submit your application please contact Human Resources in order that we can assist you.
Recruitment and Selection Policy
The employment and promotion of staff will be undertaken in accordance with the College’s Guidelines and Procedures for the Recruitment and Appointment of Staff and the Equal Opportunities Policy Statement.
Our policy is to ensure that the Recruitment and Selection process is as objective as possible. All applicants are assessed against the same criteria and every effort is made to give them an equal opportunity. Reports monitoring the recruitment process are generated regularly and considered by the College’s Equality Group.
Equal Opportunities Policy Statement
Solihull College is committed to the promotion of equality of opportunity in all of its activities and to encouraging access to the College from all groups, irrespective of race, gender, age, disability, religious belief or sexual orientation. The College is working to create an environment in which diversity and individual difference are positively valued in an atmosphere free from harassment and discrimination. The College takes its legal and moral obligations with respect to equal opportunities seriously. The College welcomes dialogue with groups and individuals on ways in which its equal opportunities policies and practice can be enhanced.
Solihull College will not tolerate any form of behaviour or activity that discriminates on the grounds of gender, marital status, family responsibilities, sexual orientation, colour, race, nationality, religious belief, ethnicity, disability, age and unrelated criminal convictions.
No employee or job applicant should be disadvantaged or treated less favourably because of conditions or requirements which cannot be justified and the College will make reasonable adjustments to its arrangements and premises with a view to avoiding any disadvantages for people with disabilities.
In order to assist us in monitoring the effectiveness of the policy, you are requested to complete the Equal Opportunities form and return it with your application form. The information you give will not be seen by those involved in the selection process. It will, however, be necessary to share information about disability during the selection process in order to guarantee an interview to anyone with a disability whose application meets the essential criteria for the post and/or to ascertain what support and assistance may be required.
Disclosure of criminal convictions
In addition to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Declaration on the application form, the College will require candidates to undergo an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check. A copy of the College’s Recruitment of Ex-offenders Policy is available on request.
Safeguarding
Solihull College is committed to safeguarding learners and has a policy to help ensure the safety and protection of students from all forms of abuse. All staff are expected to share this commitment and undertake training to support this.
Evidence of eligibility to work in the UK and qualifications
In accordance with the requirements of the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, if you are appointed to a position at the College you will be required to produce evidence of your eligibility to work in the UK.
