Trust Team 100th Celebrate
July 13th 2009
Solihull College students reaching the end of the Prince's Trust Team programme were congratulated for their hard work and dedication by the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Davis, at their end of year presentation.
Thirteen students received their certificates in front of over 100 guests to celebrate the 100th Team delivered by Solihull College.
Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Davis, said:
“We must surely congratulate the young people who took part in presenting their work. Speaking in front of a large audience can be a daunting experience but they presented with confidence and clarity. I am sure they genuinely felt that their experience as part of the team had helped them in building confidence in their abilities.”
Jackie Denton, Head Mistress of Windy Arbor School, spoke about the staff and pupils who benefited from the College students work in creating a vegetable garden and art wall at the school.
Guest speakers included local technology company SSP. Laurence Walker, Chief Executive of SSP, said:
“Supporting the Prince’s Trust is a rewarding way of making a real difference in the community. Staff at all levels within SSP have supported students, many of whom have struggled at school, been in care or are long-term unemployed.
"The programme has been a great success and has enabled students to acquire key skills and experience that will help them to move forward in life
During the programme the Team visited Birmingham City Football Club as part of the Prince's Trust Football Initiative. The Prince's Trust Football Initiative is supported by the Premier League, Professional Footballers’ Association and the Football Foundation.
