Where will this course lead?

Access to Further Education is a one year, full-time, entry level programme that includes English, maths, personal social development and vocational studies. Our courses are designed for to enable you to improve your skills in order to progress on to level 1 and 2 vocational courses.

What will I study?

The course includes Functional Skills Maths and English, as well as Personal Social Development and a taste of different vocational options such as:

- ICT
- Art
- Horticulture
- Animal Care
- Business
- Sport
- Enterprise

How will this course be delivered?

You will study up to a maximum of sixteen hours per week over four days. Classes generally run between 9am-5pm but may vary. Timetables will be given to all students during enrolment and induction week.

What qualifications will I get?

Certificate in Personal and Social Development (Entry 3)

Functional Skills Maths

Functional Skills English

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will include:

- Course work
- Assignments
- Online tests
- Written exams

Some parts of the course will be assessed by course tutors and verified by an awarding body.

How do I get a place on the course?

Fill out an application form and we will invite you in for an interview.

What are the entry requirements?

Students will be asked to take part in an initial assessment to determine if you have the correct level of Maths and English skills.

You will also be asked for a reference.

What else do I need to know?

The course is offered at both sites (Woodlands & Blossomfield). We also offer an Access to FE course that has been designed specifically for ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students. They follow the same course but have a specific language input into English sessions by ESOL tutors.

You will be need to provide all basic stationery including pens, pencils, paper, plastic wallets, folders plus any additional stationery which is required for your course.

There may be additional costs for trips throughout the year but these will total no more than £25.
