- Unit 30: Digital graphics
- Unit 36: Computer games platforms and Technologies

After successfully completing the first year you will study:

- Unit 3: Information Systems
- Unit 4: Impact of the Use of IT on Business Systems
- Unit 11: Systems analysis and design
- Unit 14: Event driven programming
- Unit 17: Project Planning
- Unit 18: Database Design
- Unit 23: HCI
- Unit 25: Maintaining Computer Systems
- Unit 12: IT Technical Support

How will this course be delivered?

This course consists of practical and theoretical sessions culminating in either assignments or internally assessed examinations depending on the unit. Employer involvement is an essential part of the course so you will have external speakers who are actively involved in the industry.

What qualifications will I get?

At the end of the first year you will get:

- IT 90 Credit Level 3 Diploma EDEXCEL
- Units working towards content related to CISCO Internet of Everything Certificate.

At the end of the course you will also have achieved;

- IT Business L3 Extended Diploma EDEXCEL
- Units working towards content related to CISCO Introduction to Cyber Security Certificate.

How will I be assessed?

All units are internally assessed by assignments set and marked by the College.

How do I get a place on the course?

You can get a place on the course by completing an application form or applying on line for an interview. Applicants are invited for an interview with a member of the School of Computing.

What are the entry requirements?

A PASS or higher at Level 2 OCR Diploma or BTEC extended certificate and English GCSE at grade C/4 or higher and Mathematics GCSE at grade C/4 or higher or 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (or grade C) or higher including English and Mathematics.

What else do I need to know?

You will need a data stick, pens, pencils, lined A4 paper and an A4 lever arch file for your work for the examined units.

The course is recognised by industry and higher education and carries UCAS points.

How much will this course cost?

For most students there is no fee for this course. However for students aged 19 or over at the start of the course or who have already completed a Level 3 course previously there is a charge.

Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?

During the first year there are no additional costs apart from supplying a data stick, pens, pencils and lined A4 paper.

A trip to the National Computing Museum at Bletchley Park is planned for the beginning of the second year. The cost will be approximately  £30 which will be due in the June of the first year. Final cost will be confirmed closer to the time as it is dependent on numbers.

What can I do after this course?
