Funds are available for trips, equipment, travel and CRB’s but are limited and will run out. You should apply as soon as possible. The following groups of students are eligible to apply:

  • If your parent(s)/guardian(s) receive income related benefits and your household income is under £21,000 for priority 1 and £26,000 for priority 2 (please see below)
  • Priority 1 (Household income £21,000) – will be awarded financial help on submission of successful application
  • Priority 2 (Household income under £26,000) – applicants in this group will be awarded financial help after the October half term – subject to sufficient funds remaining

The College welcomes applications from those with additional needs and our support team are fully trained to give you all the encouragement that you need to get the most out of your learning experience. If you are disabled or have any special needs, then our team of support staff are here to help you. When you have accepted your offer from us we will invite you to attend a transition planning meeting and will ensure that you are familiar with the college before you begin your course.

The Enrichment Team

The Enrichment Team are here to make your time outside of lessons, fun, exciting, interesting and informative. All throughout the year, our student liaison officers organise trips, excursions, events, volunteering, themed events and a varied, engaging range of great activities, ensuring your time with us isn’t all work and no play.

We support Learner Voice which gives you, the student, the opportunity to tell us how your time at college is going, what we are doing well and what you would like to see improved. We also hold elections for School Representatives and Governors, giving our students a say in matters regarding school funding and quality of education.

Help with future job planning is available for all of our students. To ensure you choose the career that’s right for you, our Careers Team are on hand to provide invaluable advice on job hunting, local employers, Higher Education, local training schemes and job vacancies. They can also help you to prepare your CV and find you suitable work experience.

Counselling is a confidential service where you will be listened to with genuine, non-judgemental warmth. The team are on site daily to give you a chance to talk through things which are concerning you. It may be something that has been nagging at you for some time or may have arisen recently. Either way you can explore them, and your feelings around them, in order to help you find the resources in yourself to manage them. Your counsellor will support you to work at your own pace, and to discuss the things which are important to you.

This is a time of major change where you are faced with freedom, choices and decisions. There may be issues around your personal circumstances, accommodation, friends and relationships, family relations, caring responsibilities, physical, emotional and mental health, benefits and finances. An understanding of your own needs is important as well as being aware of healthy lifestyle options and the importance of sleep, food, exercise, interests and friends.

The Welfare Service can provide information on a variety of topics with the aim of offering intensive and practical support. This early intervention approach can help offer you an active solution to enable you to remain on course and achieve.

Our service can provide:

  • Links to external specialist support,
  • Advice and guidance
  • Information about agencies and organisations which could support you
  • Identify problems at an early stage
  • Intervene before problems become a crisis
  • Give you support at key moments in your life

Personal Tutors

As soon as you arrive here on your very first day at college you will be assigned a Personal Tutor. Your Personal Tutor will be there to provide support, advice, guidance and information throughout your time here. You will meet regularly with your tutor for individual tutorials to discuss your learning and ensure you are on track with work and getting the most out of your experience with the college. You will also have group tutorials with your friends.

College Nurse

The College employs a dedicated qualified nurse who is available if you are unwell, for advice on health issues and first aid.
The College Nurse works term times only:

  • Monday-Tuesday 09:30-16:00
  • Wednesday-Thursday 09:30-16:30
  • Friday 09:30-14:30
