Where will this course lead?

Our Beauty Therapy Level 2 Diploma is for those who wish to enter the beauty industry at the base level and work on fundamental skills, progressing to a higher level and more specialised area upon completion.

What will I study?

On this course you will study:

- Make-up
- Eye lash and eyebrow tinting; eyebrow shaping; individual eye lash application; stripe lash application
- Facial treatments
- Waxing treatments
- Manicure treatments
- Pedicure treatments
- Reception
- Health and safety in the salon environment
- How to promote services and products to the client
- How to work effectively as a Beauty therapist.

How will this course be delivered?

The course will be delivered within a commercial salon and a theory class room. Our Beauty therapy facilities consist of 3 state of the art beauty salons with interactive whiteboards, you will be using salon exclusive products. The qualification will include external multiple choice exams; portfolio building; written and practical assessments including anatomy and physiology.

NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy (General) (QCF)

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be ongoing and it is in a range of different tasks, half the course will involve practical assignments assessed within our college commercial salons, and the other half within a theory classroom which will involve assignments, external multiple choice exams; course work and a portfolio.

How do I get a place on the course?

A successful College interview will be required.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need at least a D/3 grade English language, a satisfactory reference, and a satisfactory school report, coming from school.

What else do I need to know?

The course will run at our Blossomfield and Woodlands Campus.

Trips and external training will be offered subject to additional costs.

A minimum of 88% attendance is needed to complete the course, however 100% is expected.

Enhancement activities (e.g. Dermalogical product training; external speakers and demonstration.)

You will need to come equipped with beauty therapy tools/equipment.

- Portfolio.

You will not be required to bring in electrical equipment the college will supply.

Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course, your chosen vocation and life. Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes.

If you haven't achieved an A*/9 - C/4 grade in English or Maths at GCSE, or a Level 2 Functional Skill, you will also be working towards a qualification in English or Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades.
