These courses are not for persons considering a professional trade in a specific skill area, but may be useful as a taster for those who are uncertain whether or not to pursue a particular trade. The course will also provide some practical assistance for most DIY tasks and overcoming basic problems.
Carpentry - cutting basic joints, and cutting skirting boards. Fitting hinges and mortice locks.
Brickwork - building a pyramid wall and a corner with a return.
Plastering - fixing plasterboard and skimming.
Decorating - hanging wall paper.
Tiling - cutting and fixing wall ties and problem solving.
This course is practical and very hands-on, with very little written work.
This is a recreational course only
The course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the tutor with self-evaluation by the student.
