It can lead to Advanced Floristry modules.

What will I study?

A wide range of floristry designs and techniques, the programme is negotiated with the tutor and will cover designs at all levels. This is to include funeral designs using ribbons and bows and a ring, table decorations, wedding bouquet, button holes, a custom arrangement and a Valentine's Day workshop.

Term 1 Autumn Workshop - This is the term for Funeral work and Christmas items such as sprays, posies and wreaths with ribbons and flowers.  Students will also learn how to make a bag of flowers, table arrangements with lights and a door knocker.

Term 2 Spring Workshop - This term will cover Bridal bouquets, buttonholes, corsages and arrangements that can be used at a wedding. Also included in this term is hand tied bouquets, themed arrangements and Valentine's Day.

Term 3 Summer Workshop - Students will learn how to make Long table arrangements during this term along with summer wreaths, posies and displays in unusual containers. Summer fete items, St Georges Day and front-facing arrangements will also be covered in this term.

How will this course be delivered?

Standard classroom format and mostly practical work. The tutor will usually demonstrate the design the week before you make it.

This is a personal development course

How will I be assessed?

Informal assessment and verbal and written feedback from your tutor in the classroom.

What are the entry requirements?

Students must be aged 19+.
If you have learning difficulty or disability please let us know when you apply.

What else do I need to know?

You will need to bring flowers and sundries each week. This will be discussed with your tutor. You will also need some tools such as Floristry scissors and a knife. An apron is also advisable.

Please note: Materials are not supplied for Cakes, Flowers/Floristry, Textiles, Soft Furnishings, Homemade Crafts, Calligraphy, Art, Cookery, Tiling, Painting & Decorating, Sewing or Dressmaking.
