The course provides a strong basis for people wanting to use drones professionally and recreationally in a safe manner. It can provide an insight into employment?across several industries such as Photography, Media/Journalism, Surveying and Infrastructure Inspection as well as meeting specific requirements in areas including Wildlife Conservation, Environmental Monitoring, Emergency Medical Supply Delivery and Search and Rescue.
The course provides a basic introduction to underpinning knowledge, processes and procedures to help you to operate a drone safely. It also introduces you to the requirements to operate under a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO) and providing a good grounding to go on to undertake a CAA approved ground school. The basic content covered are:
1. Basic Planning and Map Navigation
2. Principles of Drone Flight
3. Laws and regulations
4. Staying safe in the air and on the ground-
5. Flight lessons
The course will be delivered via a one-day course comprising of a mixture of practical and theory-based sessions. In a small group setting you will learn the theory and practice underpinning safe use of drones and be given help and opportunity to develop your practical skills. This includes practical demonstrations using a variety of commercial drones.
Successful completion of the course will provide you with an insight into the Drone Aviation industry and will provide you with some practical hands on experience in flying a Drone.
There is no formal assessment for this course.

None, there are no specific entry requirements just enthusiasm for drones. However, you must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
Access to a Drone is not required to complete any element of this course but may be beneficial.
