Where will this course lead?

This course will provide a range of skills including concept, pre-production, filming and editing.  This will be a beginner course to help people who want to make their films and edit in the comfort of their own home.

What will I study?

This media course will cover:

  • Concept - having an idea and making it work
  • Pre-production - storyboards & risk assessments
  • Camera angles and techniques
  • Filming
  • Editing

How will this course be delivered?

You will study Tuesday evenings for 2 hrs.  Classes generally run between 6.30pm-8.30 pm.

The majority of this course is taught through practical work.  Practical work will be the entire process of filming and editing with some pre-production.

You will be taught in the art block, which consist of TV studio, Mac rooms and other spaces.

How will I be assessed?

You will be informally assessed by process and completion of materials.  You will achieve a college certificate on completion of the course.

How do I get a place on the course?

You must complete an application form or apply online. 

What are the entry requirements?

Entry is open to anyone keen to learn basic film making skills

What else do I need to know?

You will need an SD card in order to film.

What can I do after this course?

There may be an opportunity to study this to a higher degree, which will involve from page to screen, pre-production work such as scheduling and call sheets, advanced camera techniques, plus video and audio editing.
