Providing a basic understanding of Industrial Maintenance methods on typical mechanical systems found in Industry, the course could help candidates seeking jobs in manufacturing Industry.

What will I study?

Introduction to Maintenance is a short evening course that introduces the student to the methods, planning and execution of basic maintenance activities used throughout industry.
The key subjects will be
- Health and Safety of maintenance operations
- Types of Maintenance methodologies
- Planning and documenting maintenance activities
- Conducting typical maintenance work

How will this course be delivered?

The course is delivered on Wednesday evenings at the Woodlands Campus 3 hours per evening for 8 weeks. A large proportion of the course is hands on with access to mechanical maintenance rigs with industry standard components

What qualifications will I get?

The course leads to a college certificate

How will I be assessed?

There will be some written assignment work but the majority will be inspection of plans and records as well as observation of processes.

What else do I need to know?

The rigs and the components are very clean but it is recommended that old clothes are worn or coveralls if you have them. Safety eye protection will be provided.

What can I do after this course?

 

There are other short courses available of a similar type for pneumatics and maintenance that can be taken on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
