Employment towards a Public Service and Higher Education. Modules cover a broad range of topics, subjects and activities; our Extended Diploma caters for those who leave school looking to get into the emergency or armed services. Delving in to a varied mixture of theoretical tasks and practical activities, you will gain an understanding of a range of public service sectors as well as the effects these sectors have on our society.

The majority of the time will be in the classroom learning a variety of subjects relating to the public services. However, you will also be active in attending outdoor recreation centres, participating in a range of land-based and water-based activities.
Sport and outdoor recreation is an important part of the curriculum in developing your health & fitness and developing your confidence in working with your peers and instructors. You will use the newly developed indoor sports hall and gymnasium on Blossomfield Campus
1st Year - Public Services (Uniformed) BTEC Subsidiary Diploma
2nd Year - Public Services (Uniformed) BTEC Diploma
To pass this course you will complete assignments throughout the year. Assignments will include project work, training sessions, essays & reports, role-plays and practical and teamwork sessions.
Places are offered by interview and attendance of a welcome day.
3 GCSE grades at C/4 or above including either Maths or English at grade C/4 OR Progression from a Level 2 Diploma at Merit level. You will need to have a suitable reference and undertake a successful interview. You will undertake either Maths or English GCSE alongside the Public Service course until you achieve grade C/4 or above.
You will need to dress smartly and wear an appropriate uniform. You will be expected to attend residential trips during the autumn and summer term. There will be a cost of £60* (for students that do not meet the criteria for student finance support) to cover the cost of trips, residential and travel for the academic year. In addition you will also be required to purchase a uniform before the start of the course.

After completing the level three course, you can progress onto a higher level qualification at University depending on your final grade and equivalent UCAS points.
