Where will this course lead?

A shared activity between parent/carer and child

Learn to create a wide range of tasty dishes, try your hand at new skills and broaden your palette. Our Cookery courses are ideal for beginners or for those with some experience

Based on one adult per child (aged 7-15 years).

What will I study?

A delicious main course that the whole family can enjoy, including curries, pastries and international cuisine and a delicious dessert that could grace any table, including, millefeuille, mousse and gateau.

Family Learning courses are FUN and aim to support children's first and most important educators, offering ideas and activities to support children's learning in everyday situations.

How will this course be delivered?

Practical class-based work lead by tutor demonstration. Recipes with ingredients lists are given out the week before each class. Sessions take place in a classroom kitchen.

What qualifications will I get?

This is a personal enrichment course.

How will I be assessed?

This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the Tutor with self assessment and evaluation by the student.

What are the entry requirements?

Adult students must be aged 19+. Children must be aged between 7-15. Enrolment is based on 1 adult and 1 child.

If you have Learning Difficulty or Disability please let us know when you apply. You will be offered support in your interview. If you need help completing your application we can help with this too.

What else do I need to know?

The tutor will inform you on the first session or prior to it of any ingredients and equipment that are required.

Please note: Materials are not supplied for Cakes, flowers/floristry, Textiles, Soft furnishings, Stained glass, Homemade Crafts, Calligraphy, Art, Cookery, Tiling, painting & Decorating, patchwork & Quilting, Sewing or Dressmaking.

Students are responsible for providing their own ingredients and some equipment.

Please ensure you wear suitable clothing for cooking.

What can I do after this course?

Try another cookery course, including courses for adults only, or a different Family Learning programme such as crafts. For adults we offer Sugarcraft Flowers, Cake Decorating plus a range of other courses, including Floristry and Jewellery Making .
