What will I study?

Each term you will develop your skills further and try more complex and intricate designs. You will cover a wide range of decorative techniques and styles using - sugar paste, royal icing and flower paste.

Each term will focus on a different theme and include a variety of different techniques, tips, themes and creative ideas.

How will this course be delivered?

Practical class based work lead by tutor demonstration; some designs may have to be completed at home.

What qualifications will I get?

This is a personal enrichment programme.

How will I be assessed?

This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the Tutor with self assessment and evaluation by the student.

What are the entry requirements?

Students must be aged 19+.

If you have Learning Difficulty or Disability please let us know when you apply. You will be offered support in your interview. If you need help completing your application we can help with this too.

What else do I need to know?

The tutor will inform you on the first session of any tools and equipment that are required.

The tutor will also have a list of suppliers where these will be available. You can use ready-made cakes or dummies to decorate.

Please note: Materials are not supplied for Cakes, flowers/floristry, Textiles, Soft furnishings, Stained glass, Homemade Crafts, Calligraphy, Art, Cookery, Tiling, painting & Decorating, Sewing or Dressmaking.

Students are responsible for providing their own ingredients and some equipment.

What can I do after this course?

We also offer Sugarcraft Flowers, an ideal follow on course to Cake Decorating.
