Where will this course lead?

 

This qualification is ideal for novice computer users wishing to prove and improve their computing skills for the benefit of themselves and of future employers. The course will focus on the skills required to help gain employment in an office environment where everyday computing skills are essential.

How will this course be delivered?

You will attend a workshop session for approximately twelve weeks in a morning and afternoon session. At the end of the twelve weeks you will have a Level 1 ITQ Award with the opportunity to move onto the full ECDL Essentials Level 2 qualification. To get a Level 1 qualification you will need to pass three units and to achieve Level 2 you will need to pass another four units. In addition to the sessions you will receive access to course manuals and online learning material where you can sublimate your learning in your own time at your leisure.

QCF (ITQ) Level 1 Award

How will I be assessed?

At the end of each unit there is an exam, which is preceded by a series of mock tests to prepare for it. There are short exercises, official courseware and open sessions to aid your learning.

How do I get a place on the course?

Places are offered by interview depending on the student's motivation and suitability for the course. There is an initial assessment and a reference is preferred.

What are the entry requirements?

No specific qualifications are required, however a basic understanding of office Computing is required and also an Entry Level of English skills.

What else do I need to know?

Students must also be prepared to attend one day a week for a morning and afternoon session- which is the minimum time required to complete the qualification.

The course does offer a pathway to a full Level 2 ITQ qualification but this depends on the student's attendance and achievement during Level 1. All students will be assigned a personal tutor and have monthly meetings to set targets and discuss performance.

What can I do after this course?

Many students will progress to Level 2 and to improve their chances of employment.
