Where will this course lead?

This course provides students with the technical skills required to write basic Transact-SQL queries for Microsoft SQL Server 2016. This course is the foundation for all SQL Server-related disciplines; namely, Database Administration, Database Development and Business Intelligence.

This course is intended for Database Administrators, Database Developers, and Business Intelligence professionals. The course will very likely be well attended by SQL power users who aren't necessarily database-focused or plan on taking the exam; namely, report writers, business analysts and client application developers.

What will I study?

After completing this course, you will be able to:

- Filter, sort, join, aggregate, and modify data
- Use subqueries, table expressions, grouping sets, and pivoting
- Query temporal and non-relational data, and output XML or JSON
- Create views, user-defined functions, and stored procedures
- Implement error handling, transactions, data types, and nulls

Students may elect to take the relevant Microsoft MCP exam following relevant experience, to gain Microsoft Certified Professional;  SQL 2016:  Querying Data with T-SQL

How will I be assessed?

The course includes assessments throughout the course with both practical and quiz exercises. Course certificates of completion are provided.

How do I get a place on the course?

Places are offered by interview, subject to meeting the entry requirements.

What are the entry requirements?

Learners must be over 19.

Before attending this course, learners must have completed the following courses, gained certification or have similar knowledge:

MTA: Database Fundamentals.

Have a working knowledge of relational databases, basic knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating system and its core functionality.
