Where will this course lead?

Develop your artistic and creative skills and explore a range of art disciplines. Find your own style and experiment with new drawing and painting techniques. 

What will I study?

Develop your drawing and painting techniques and practice different effects using a range of media such as acrylics, water colours, pencil, pastels and  oils will only be taught when we doing  online classes.

Learn to develop tone, texture, composition and layers. Practice basic drawing and sketching, working from pictures, photographs and still life. Due to many requests, we will also be following step by step paintings by popular artists creating work in their style. For example, Bob Ross All skills taught over consecutive terms. 

How will this course be delivered?

A 2-hour session each week, for the duration of the course. This is a year course over three terms. You must pay and register for each term. 

Please note that there may be times when some lessons are taught online. You will need to be able to use Microsoft Teams to access the course during online weeks. 

What qualifications will I get?

This is a personal development course.

How will I be assessed?

This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the tutor with self-assessment and evaluation by the student.

What are the entry requirements?

Students should be aged 19+. 

If you have learning difficulty or a disability please let us know when you apply. 

What else do I need to know?

Wearing an apron or old shirt to protect clothes is advisable. 

The tutor will inform you on the first session of any tools and equipment that are required. They may also have a list of suppliers where these will be available.  

Please note: Materials are not supplied for Cakes, Flowers/Floristry, Textiles, Art, Cookery, DIY, Tiling, Painting & Decorating, Sewing or Upcycling.

What can I do after this course?

The course may be your first step into working in this field. You may consider joining a higher level art course to develop your skills further. Students enrolling on these PCDL courses will have the opportunity to attend an optional 'start your own business' online workshop, delivered by our careers team.
