Where will this course lead?

This course is ideal for you if want a career as an Interior Designer and for those working in related industries such as retail, fabrics, architects, show homes and those who would like to interior design their own home.

What will I study?

Advanced Interior Design

- Detailed study of Inspirational sources.
- Learn to create a scheme for a period property
- Health and safety regulations and planning legislation
- Designer research
- Explore materials and products in depth
- Produce drawings and plans to industry standards
- Complete a range of schemes

How will this course be delivered?

The course is designed to develop individual approaches to designing schemes by discussion, assignments and self-reflection. You will learn how to take a measured survey and plan the use of space.

Discover how design was used in period styles and how you might be inspired to develop these influences in modern designs. The course is mostly class based but students are expected to do research outside of the class sessions.

What qualifications will I get?

OCNWMR Level 3 Cerificate.

How will I be assessed?

Each module is assessed by the tutor and is moderated both internally and externally.

How do I get a place on the course?

What are the entry requirements?

For Advanced Level you would need Foundation and Intermediate Level.

For the OCNWMR Certificate students must be able to work at Level 2 English and Maths.

Students must be aged 19+.

What else do I need to know?

It is beneficial to attend exhibitions, period style houses and museums etc. Students are responsible for providing their own materials and books.

Please note: Materials are not supplied for Cakes, Flowers/Floristry, Textiles, Soft Furnishings, Homemade Crafts, Calligraphy, Art, Cookery, Tiling, Painting & Decorating, Sewing or Dressmaking.

What can I do after this course?

Once you have progressed through all 3 levels you may wish to continue to study further - Interior Design HE courses or become a self-employed Interior Designer or work for an Interior Design company or gain employment in related industries such as soft furnishings, textiles and retail.
