This course is ideal for you if want a career as an Interior Designer. It's also ideal for those working in related industries like retail, fabrics, architects, show homes and those who would like to interior design their own home.
Foundation Interior Design
You will study colour, theory and design, a variety of design period styles, and you will explore and develop inspirational sources. You will gain knowledge and experience in the role of the Interior Designer. You will also produce Scheme boards
The course is designed to develop individual approaches to designing schemes by discussion, assignments and self-reflection. You will learn how to interpret inspirations and create a design using mood and scheme boards.
Discover how design was used in period styles and how you might be inspired to develop these influences in modern designs. The course is mostly class based but students are expected to do research outside of the class sessions.
OCNWMR Level 2 Award.
Each module is assessed by the tutor and is moderated both internally and externally.
You must complete a full year (3 terms) to complete each level of accreditation.

For Intermediate Level you would be required to have Foundation Level. Foundation & Intermediate may be studied in the same academic year. Enrolment is subject to tutor interview.
For this OCNWMR Award students should be able to work at Level 2 English and Maths.
Students must be aged 19+.

It is beneficial to attend exhibitions, period style houses and museums etc. Students are responsible for providing their own materials and books.
Please note: Materials are not supplied for Cakes, Flowers/Floristry, Textiles, Soft Furnishings, Homemade Crafts, Calligraphy, Art, Cookery, Tiling, Painting & Decorating, Sewing or Dressmaking.
Once you have progressed through all 3 levels you may wish to continue to study further Interior Design HE courses or become a self-employed Interior Designer, work for an Interior Design company or gain employment in related industries such as soft furnishings, textiles and retail.
