Where will this course lead?

This course is ideal for you if want a career as an Interior Designer  and for those working in related industries like retail, fabrics, architects, show homes and those who would like to interior design their own home.

What will I study?

Intermediate Interior Design

- Exploring uses of Materials
- Lighting products and planning, wall coverings and flooring
- Taking a measured survey
- Floor Plans and elevations
- Spatial planning
- Producing and planning a scheme for a room

How will this course be delivered?

The course is designed to develop individual approaches to designing schemes by discussion, you will be able to specify a range of products and produce a lighting plan, assignments and self-reflection.

You will learn how to take a measured survey and plan the use of space.

The course is mostly class based but students are expected to do research outside of the class sessions.

What qualifications will I get?

OCNWMR  Level 2 Certificate.

How will I be assessed?

Each module is assessed by the tutor and is moderated both internally and externally.

You must complete a full year (3 terms) to complete each level of accreditation.

How do I get a place on the course?

What are the entry requirements?

For Intermediate Level you would be required to have Foundation Level.  Foundation & Intermediate may be studied in the same academic year.   Enrolment is by tutor interview only.

For the OCNWMR Certificate students must be able to work at Level 2 English and Maths.

Students must be aged 19+.

What else do I need to know?

It is beneficial to attend exhibitions, period style houses and museums etc. Students are responsible for providing their own materials and books.

Please note: Materials are not supplied for Cakes, Flowers/Floristry, Textiles, Soft Furnishings, Crafts, Calligraphy, Art, Cookery, Tiling, Painting & Decorating, Sewing or Dressmaking.

What can I do after this course?

Once you have progressed through all 3 levels you may wish to continue to study further Interior Design HE courses or become a self-employed Interior Designer, work for an Interior Design company or gain employment in related industries such as soft furnishings, textiles and retail.
