Where will this course lead?

This course focuses primarily on the installation, storage, and compute features and functionality available in Windows Server 2016. It covers general installation tasks and considerations, and the installation and configuration of Nano Server, in addition to the creation and management of images for deployment. It also covers local and server storage solutions, including the configuration of disks and volumes, Data Deduplication, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Storage Spaces Direct, and Failover Clustering solutions. The exam also covers Hyper-V and containers, along with the maintenance and monitoring of servers in physical and compute environments.

This course is intended for Information Technology (IT) Professionals who have good Windows operating system knowledge and experience and want to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to implement the core infrastructure services in an existing Windows Server 2016 environment.

This course is available to study in the evening, over 18 sessions. Learners may re-enrol on course to extend their period of study.

What qualifications will I get?

Vocational study not leading to a recognised academic qualification.

Students may elect to take the relevant Microsoft MCP exam following relevant experience, to gain the Microsoft Certified Professional in Windows Server 2016: Installation, Storage & Computer

Working towards, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): Windows Server 2016.

How will I be assessed?

The course includes assessments throughout the course with both practical and quiz exercises. Course certificates of completion are provided.

There is no formal examination required; however the Microsoft MCP 70-740 exam may be taken at an external Pearson VUE test centres. See Microsoft certification site for exam details and conditions.

How do I get a place on the course?

Places are offered by interview, subject to meeting the entry requirements.

What are the entry requirements?

Learners must be over 19.

Before attending this course, learners must have completed the following courses, gained certification or have similar knowledge:

MTA: IT Infrastructure modules,  Cisco CCENT or CompTIA A+.

Students would also benefit from having some previous Windows Server operating system experience.
