Where will this course lead?

The course is an ideal stepping-stone for those who wish to progress to a HNC in Engineering.

What will I study?

To gain the Pearson BTEC Level 3 Award in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge) qualification you must achieve a minimum of 60 credits of which 30 are from core units which consist of:

Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace

Communications for Engineering

Mathematics for Engineering Technicians

Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials

Engineering Drawing

The remainder credits are achieved through optional modules either

Mechanical Principles of Engineering Systems

or

Electrical and Electronic Principles in Engineering

How will this course be delivered?

The course is delivered through various assignments that cover 60 credits over 1 year these will taught through practical demonstrations, workshops and lectures.

Attendance is part time on a day-release basis.

What qualifications will I get?

You will achieve a Pearson BTEC Level 3 Award in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge)

How will I be assessed?

All modules are assessed by assignments; each unit's assessment is matched to the content of the unit. Each unit can be assessed at Pass, Merit or Distinction levels, which are combined at the end of the qualification to give an overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction for the qualification.

How do I get a place on the course?

Entry to the course is dependent upon successful interview and meeting the entry requirements.

What are the entry requirements?

You need a minimum of four GCSEs at Grade A - C including Mathematics & English Language. Mature students with appropriate life experiences will have their prior learning and skills taken into account.

We have a wide selection of library books and electronic books for you to use for this course. There is no set text.

You will be expected to supply your own stationery such as folders, paper and pens.

Connection to the internet is expected, but facilities are available at College to do this if necessary.

What can I do after this course?

It is possible to continue with level 3 studies to gain a Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced

Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge).

If you have appropriate industrial experience and other level 3 qualifications, there may be a route available onto a HNC.
