College football academy celebrates the return of Moor Green AFC

Solihull College & University Centre’s football academy is turning back the clock this season by resurrecting a sleeping giant with the introduction of Moor Green AFC as the academy’s showcase team.

The pool of talent that graced the Midland Football League Division Two remains but a new chapter opens. A new kit and badge herald the dawn of a new exciting beginning for the academy and Moor Green AFC.

As part of the College’s football academy, students train and play competitive football alongside their college course. The program aims to produce footballers who will excel either side of the white line.

Player development is key and if last season is any marker, then Moor Green AFC is guaranteed to unearth some hidden gems. Ethan Sephton and Keziah Martin both trialled at Burnley whilst Dylan Barkers trialled at Leicester.

Giving players a platform to shine is the primary aim of the academy and propelling them to bigger and better things the ultimate goal. Loans are vital to a player’s development and Guiseley, of the National North, have wasted no time in procuring two of the club’s hottest prospects.

Midfielder Dylan Barkers and defender Reiss McNally will be wearing the shirt for former footballer Marcus Bignot, who runs the college football academy alongside his role as manager at Guiseley AFC. The two teenagers will carry on training with the academy side during the week alongside their studies.

The team are excited to get started and are already back in pre-season training with preparations well underway to make their mark in the coming season!

If you feel you have what it takes to join the talented squad, please send football CV’s on to for the opportunity of a trial invitation.
