Where will this course lead?

This is a 10 week course in which you can develop your creative  design skills.  Explore a range of craft disciplines and experiment with various art and craft materials and techniques.

What will I study?

We will be designing and creating various items using different materials.  In class we will discuss appropriate items and how best to use them for the various projects and where you may obtain them.  Start saving up ribbons, buttons, wool, card, coloured thread and embroidery thread, etc as these are sure to come in useful!

Learn to develop: design ideas, planning and layout, colour coordination.

How will this course be delivered?

This is a 2 hour session each week for the duration of the course.  Each 10 week term we will be using different materials. 

In term 1, week 1 you will need a pencil and sketchbook together with Fimo clay and tools to design and make a bird bath over 3 weeks.  Other items such as card making will be nearer to Christmas together with designing and making Christmas ornaments. 

Term 2, you will need felting materials for both wet and dry felting.

Term 3, you will need jewellery making equipment, large stones and acrylic paint, a vintage mirror.

You will need your own materials.

What qualifications will I get?

This is a personal development course.

How will I be assessed?

This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the Tutor with self assessment and evaluation by the student.

What are the entry requirements?

Students should be aged 19+.

What else do I need to know?

Wearing an apron or old shirt to protect clothes is advisable.

Students will need to supply their own materials, for example:- sketchbook, drawing pencils (B-B8), Fimo clay and tools, acrylic paint, varnish, felting materials (roving - own colour choices, long rolling pin, netting 2metres sq and bubble wrap, dry felting needles, sponge), ribbons, coloured thread, card making equipment and Christmas decoration items.  Other equipment will be discussed during the duration of the course.
