Having been recognised for its award-winning online prospectus, which was created in 2010, Solihull College is continuing to impress with its digital marketing vision through further award nominations. The College’s marketing team has been nominated for ‘Best Digital Experience’ and ‘Best Integrated and/or Social Media Approach’ by the UK Digital Experience Awards 2014.
In addition to this, the College has also been nominated by Heist, the premier awards programme for FE and HE, for the online prospectus (TYP) in the ‘Digital and Social Media’ category.
The College, which won the Gold Award for ‘Innovative Use of Technology’ at the FE First Awards in 2013, is delighted with this recognition. The marketing team behind the work has been recognised by the Chamber for its strategic use of social media to drive interest in its digital marketing activities.
The College will be competing in both categories against major organisations including Sky and The Co-operative Food. Dave Cooper, Director of Marketing, said: “We are delighted with this nomination. To see the hard work and passion that goes in throughout the year being recognised by industry professionals is a wonderful accolade for the marketing team.”
The College was also recently nominated for the Greater Birmingham Chamber Business Awards 2014 for ‘Excellence in the Use of Social Media’. Along with Facebook, the College actively engages with Twitter and YouTube, using highly targeted boosted posts and promoted tweets to drive traffic to the website.
Beginning in 2010, the College made the decision to move away from the printed prospectus and focus its marketing strategy on digital and online channels. The College now boasts an award-winning interactive digital prospectus, TYP, one of the first among FE colleges in the country.
The College’s use and innovation of digital media has seen videos go viral, including a Dynamo-style magic video featuring magician Christian Fletcher and a crossbar challenge used to promote the College’s successful Football Academy.
