Where will this course lead?

Get into College (Access to Further Education) is a one year, full-time, entry level programme that includes English, maths, personal social development and vocational studies. Our courses are designed for to enable you to improve your skills in order to progress on to level 1 and 2 vocational courses.

Our course is designed to ease the transition into further education (FE) and offer an insight into what college is like.

What will I study?

The course includes GCSE or Functional Skills Maths and English, as well as Entry Level 3 or Level 1 Introductory Certificate/Diploma in Vocational Studies with a range of different vocational options such as:

- Art
- Health & Social Care
- Animal Care
- Business
- Hospitality/Cookery
- Construction skills
- Motor vehicle skills
- Enterprise

You will also take part in a community based project.

How will this course be delivered?

You will study up to a maximum of sixteen hours per week over four days. Classes generally run between 9am-5pm but may vary. Timetables will be given to all students during enrolment and induction week

What qualifications will I get?

Entry Level 3 or Level 1 Introductory Certificate/Diploma in Vocational Studies 

GCSE or Functional Skills Maths

GCSE or Functional Skills English

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will include:

- Course work
- Assignments
- Online tests
- Written exams

Some parts of the course will be assessed by course tutors and verified by an awarding body.

How do I get a place on the course?

Fill out an application form and we will invite you in for an interview.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements.  Applicants will be asked to complete an initial assessment in maths and English. You will also be asked for a reference.

What else do I need to know?

The course is offered at both sites (Woodlands & Blossomfield).

If you have a learning difficulty or disability please let us know when you apply. You will be offered support in your interview. If you need help completing your application we can help with this too.

Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?

You will be need to provide all basic stationery including pens, pencils, paper, plastic wallets, folders plus any additional stationery which is required for your course.

There may be additional costs for trips throughout the year but these will total no more than £25.

Our courses are designed for to enable you to improve your skills in order to progress on to level 1 and 2 vocational courses, training or employment.
