Where will this course lead?

This course is ideal for those wishing to learn the basic commercial floristry techniques and designs; either for personal development or as first steps to employment in the floristry industry.

What will I study?

- Autumn Term a range of standard sympathy designs and seasonal (Christmas) designs.

- Spring term focuses on weddings accessory designs e.g. buttonholes, corsages, headdresses.

- Summer term create and design a range of commercial gift work, flowers arrangements and hand tieds.

How will this course be delivered?

This course is mostly practical-based with very little written work. It is anticipated that you would create a design most weeks.

This course is offered at numerous venues throughout the year

What qualifications will I get?

This is a personal development course

How will I be assessed?

This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the Tutor with self assessment and evaluation by the student.

What are the entry requirements?

Students must be aged 19+.

If you have a Learning Difficulty or Disability please let us know when you apply. You will be offered support in your interview. If you need help completing your application we can help with this too.

What else do I need to know?

The tutors are all professional florists. The tutor will inform you on the first session of any tools and equipment that are required. They will also have a list of suppliers where these will be available. Students are responsible for providing their own materials.

What can I do after this course?

Progress on to Intermediate and Advanced level courses within Community Learning.
