Where will this course lead?

This course is suitable for those who have never studied Spanish before and would like to be able to communicate effectively in most everyday situations in Spain or a Spanish speaking country.

It is also a useful refresher for those with a very basic knowledge of the language.
 

What will I study?

The basic skills covered are speaking, listening, reading and writing in Spanish.

You will learn a range of useful vocabulary, key phrases and accurate pronunciation.
Term 1 - The Spanish Beginners Course covers basic Spanish phrases including greeting and introducing yourself, talking about family, nationality and professions. You will learn how to order food and drinks and find your way around. You will also learn numbers and days of the week.

Term 2 - In Beginners & Improvers you will recap all the areas covered in the Beginners class and learn how to have basic conversations in Spanish. Areas covered include booking a hotel, describing places, talking about the home and what you do at work and in your free time. You will be taught new vocabulary, grammar and you will learn about past and future tenses.

Term 3 - The Improvers course covers use of present, past and future tense. You will gain confidence in conversation skills, talking about past events, future plans, holidays, likes and dislikes. You will also learn to describe the weather, what you are wearing and your emotions.
 

How will this course be delivered?

A two-hour class each week.

This course is delivered at various venues throughout the year.
 

What qualifications will I get?

This is a personal development course.

How will I be assessed?

This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the tutor with self-assessment and evaluation by the student.
