Where will this course lead?

From Silent Witness to Three Little Birds, This Town to Just Act Normal, there has been an increase in the number of high-end TV dramas filmed in the midlands and that is set to continue. The industry is keen to give opportunities for mid-level crew based in the region to work on future productions.

This course is aimed at mid-level crew with two or more credits on High-end TV productions, including Production Managers, Location Managers, Production Coordinators looking to step up, 1st and 2nd Assistant Directors. We are also interested in applications from Costume, Props, Art Department.

Kudos Knight, the producers behind House of Guinness, SAS Heroes and This Town, has partnered with Create Central, WMCA and Solihull College & University Centre to deliver this course which is part of a series of training bootcamps aimed at different entrant levels.

What will I study?

Designed for mid-level crew with two or more credits on High-end TV productions, the bootcamp offers bespoke expert led training covering planning, scheduling and budgeting plus Movie Magic workshops. There will be advice on how to build your profile, mentoring sessions and the opportunity to meet the department heads from the Kudos team in the region.

How will this course be delivered?

Start Date: Tuesday 11th Nov 2025

Duration: 6 weeks

Days: Tuesday evening some in person and Thursday online.

Delivery: Hybrid of in-person and remote.

Location: Solihull College and University Centre, Blossomfield Campus, Blossomfield Road, Solihull, B91 1SB (and remote).

Interview dates: Tuesday 14th, Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th October

What qualifications will I get?

This bootcamp does not provide a formal qualification but works directly with Kudos Knight, a leading production company and delivers industry-focused skills and practical experience.

How will I be assessed?

There is no formal assessment.

What are the entry requirements?

To qualify for this FREE course, you must:

  • Be aged 19+
  • Live in the West Midlands Combined Authority area (Birmingham, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, Wolverhampton) not currently enrolled on a HE Programme https://www.wmca.org.uk/in-my-area/
  • Lived in the UK for 3 years
  • You are able to provide proof of entitlement to work in the UK

What else do I need to know?

This course is FREE for eligible applicants aged 19+ who live in the West Midlands.
