Where will this course lead?

From Doctor Who to Derry Girls, This Town to Three Little Birds, High-end TV drama is seeing a boom in the UK and the Midlands is centre stage. With increasing numbers of TV productions being filmed in the Midlands, the region is keen for more local people to work in the industry.

This course is aimed at people who are keen to broaden their employability by transferring their skills and using them in the film and TV industry, eg: carpenters, painters and decorators who are interesting in joining the Art Department to construct, paint and decorate sets and props; hairdressers and make-up artists who could join the Hair and Make-up Department.

Kudos Knight, the producers behind House of Guinness, SAS Heroes and This Town, has partnered with Create Central, WMCA and Solihull College & University Centre to deliver this course which is part of a series of training bootcamps aimed at different entrant levels.

What will I study?

Designed for people who want to transfer their skill to the film and TV industry, the bootcamp introduces learners to the world of high-end TV, with bespoke expert led training covering pre-production, set etiquette, sustainability, health and safety, employability, freelancing, CVs, being, diversity and career support with one -to-one interviews.

The course will feature guest speakers from across the industry, including the chance to meet the Kudos team with sessions from key personnel from departments and departmental 1-2-1 sessions, such as a day in the life of a Hairdresser or Construction Painter.
